Fear is a Liar

If you listen to Christian radio, you have probably heard the Zach Williams song, “Fear Is a Liar.” (If you haven’t heard it, click the title and listen to it now!) God seems to be putting this song heavily on my heart tonight. I am facing a time where Satan is trying to bring fear and I am fighting hard along side my Savior, Jesus, to stand strong in my faith. When I feel fear creeping in, I find myself singing (sometimes shouting) the chorus of this song until I believe it!

Fear, he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
‘Cause fear he is a liar

Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Let’s talk about fear. Fear is a liar. Fear keeps us from living fully. Fear keeps us from living lives that are faithful. Fear makes us feel hopeless and helpless. If we are living our lives for Christ, we are saved from hopelessness. Jesus died on the cross so that we may have eternal life in heaven, but also so that we may live our lives on earth free from fear.

This does not mean that our life on earth will be perfect and we will never have problems or face suffering. It does mean that no matter what we face while we walk this earth, Jesus is with us. He is the light in our darkness. Because of Jesus, we can cast our fears in the fire and live our lives in faith.

What are your fears tonight? What is getting in your way? Are you feeling hopeless or helpless? If so, try singing that chorus, until you know without a doubt that fear is from Satan and faith is from Jesus. If we let ourselves listen to Satan, we will start to believe that we are not good enough, we are not strong enough, we are not smart enough, we are not beautiful enough, we are not…

When we listen to Jesus, we know that we are loved and we know that He can change our lives. His perfect love will drive out all of our fears. Take a minute to read 1 John 4:7-21.

Verse 18  “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

As a family, we have walked through our share of fires. Today, we walk a path that we would never have chosen, but as we walk through it, our faith is strengthened and our fears are weakened. Has it been an easy journey? No. Through it all, have we experienced how good and faithful our God is? Yes.

We all have to make the choice to not let fear steal our happiness. May this be a week filled with happiness, filled with the love of our Savior, and filled with faith over fear. Blessings, Jaci
